WELCOME TO KJACKSON BOOKS
Liposuction E Book
DEAR DIARY:
WHAT MY DOCTOR
NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT
LIPOSUCTION
======================
Writing this book about having liposuction has been a very essential part of my recovery. Except for my son, doctor, and finally, my Mom, there was no one I had chosen to confide in. Putting my own experiences down on paper gave me a chance to not only relive the experience and face the uncertainties, but to understand my motivation for doing it. Writing this book was an emotional lifeline for me and it’s been a wonderful outlet.
Where else could I have expressed the joy of going from a size 22 to 16 in two months? As a Baby Boomer, it's a lot harder to lose weight and inches after age 40 than it is for those in their 20s and 30s, as a lot of my peers can attest.
Since no one knew I had the liposuction surgery, this book was the one place where I could shout. This book was also written with others in mind. There may be those who felt as I did. They’ve secretly dreamed of undergoing the liposuction or other cosmetic surgery procedure because they were just as unhappy with certain aspects of their bodies as I was. They’ve squirreled away some money in the hopes that one day they might also take the next step. There are also those who have taken that cosmetic surgery step. I hope my words help someone else who’s alone with their thoughts and pain as I’ve been, give them a much needed mental hug, and let them know that someone else had undergone what they are considering or are now enduring. At those times, when I was most vulnerable, I kept telling myself that there would be people reading my words and saying to themselves, "This is normal. Kathyne went through this too, so I will not worry."
Am I glad I did it? Yes! At the time it was the right decision for me. I needed something to jumpstart and improve my fitness level.
Would did I do after I had healed from cosmetic surgery? I went outdoors. That may seem small but you have to understand that I was a homebody. I did not go outdoors. I went to work and came home and ate. I did not exercise. I wore plus-size clothing. I was on no diet plan. I just ate and got bigger and got more embarassed.
After cosmetic surgery, I woke up one day and looked in the mirror and liked myself. I found myself several sizes smaller and with no desire to get bigger. And, this is new, I wanted to show off my new body. I went outdoors and walked, rode my bicycle, travelled, went sightseeing, hung out with friends. I was even inspired to incporate a new work out program. Life was great. I was a new woman.

How big were you before the surgery? See the "before" picture below.

I went from a size 22/24 to a size 16. My doctor made me lose 25 pounds before he would even consider me for surgery.
What's the leading misconception about liposuction? Liposuction does not get rid of cellulite and you don't lose weight, only inches. You have to keep exercising and watching what you eat to lose the weight.
What are the four most important questions to ask the doctor about liposuction or any cosmetic surgery? (1) Are they members of the American Board of Plastic Surgery; (2) How many of the procedures you want have they actually done (ask to see before/after photos of other patients who had liposuction surgery); (3) Where will the liposuction procedure be done - office or hospital? If at a hospital it means the doctor has met the hospital's requirements for education and training and they have no suits against them; and (4) What are the unique circumstances and results you will have as a teenager, GenXer or Baby Boomer? Each age group have their own list of consequences so it's up to you to make sure you get those answers from your doctor.
What was the most annoying thing to happen to you? Right after liposuction surgery you are placed in a body garment that you must keep on for at least 48 hours after cosmetic surgery. You can't take it off for the bathroom (there's a hole in the bottom for your convenience) and not to get clean for at least 48 hours. Yuch!
What are some of the things your body endured during the first 48 hours after having liposuction that the doctor didn't tell you about? Draining of blood and fluids for the first 48 hours; itching, chills, leathery looking skin; bruising; and spasms. All eventually cleared up and stopped.
How long did the pain after cosmetic surgery really last? For four weeks after liposuction surgery the pain gradually decreased to a manageable level until it was no longer noticeable.
